JONAS WEIß
ABOUTME.
I am a professional event technician with musical background based in Stuttgart, Germany.
Since January 2019, I have been working as a freelancer in the pro audio industry.
I built my expertise through a three-year apprenticeship and my studies at Stuttgart Media University, where I deepened my technical and physical understanding of sound while working on creative projects. A key influence was Professor Dr. Frank Melchior, who inspired me to explore 3D audio.
Since then, I have worked on music mixes and sound design for media installations, both in binaural (headphone-based) and speaker-based formats. I am experienced with Ambisonics, Dolby Atmos, and channel-based 3D audio formats.
During my practical semester at d&b audiotechnik, I gained in-depth knowledge of sound system engineering and acoustic measurement. Since then, system engineering has become one of my core services - whether for clubs, concert halls, festivals, or techno venues. Beyond my studies and apprenticeship, I have gained hands-on experience by mixing club shows in subculture venues and working on various festivals and projects over the years.
Today, I work as a freelancer for a range of satisfied clients, including Fichtner Tontechnik in Tübingen. For some gigs, I take my second home with me - an almost 40-year-old Mercedes camper. We make a great team on the road!
In my free time, I organize concerts, parties, and small festivals with my collective. Besides handling the sound, I am usually responsible for project planning.
I love creating immersive experiences, drawing people into the moment, and making them feel part of a community. By adding playful elements and interactive features, such as media installations, I invite visitors to engage with the space and become active participants in the event.
